Much of the queer community feels a connection to Astrology because, to many cultures, people who fit outside the binary of gender and sexuality were closer to nature and spiritual connections. This tie has stuck with many queer people to this day.
I created this series to portray the zodiac icons with queer, gender non-conforming, and melanated characteristics, so they represent queer, trans, and BIPOC individuals. I also themed the series to different kinds of kink, BDSM, and fetish practices based on their characteristics. This series was a fun project to enjoy with my local kink QTBIPOC community and group I co-organize.
Sapphic Manananggal

The manananggal is a monster from Filipino folklore of the Visayas region. The manananggal appears to be an ordinary woman. At night, she sprouts wings, and her lower body separates from her upper half, allowing her to fly. The manananggal feeds on sleeping victims’ internal organs and blood, and has a particular appetite for fetuses, leading them to prey mainly on women.
I drew here a manananggal not hunting, but revealing to her lover her monster form, and her partner does not recoil, but touches her face, in shock, but also giving a warming touch. It would be lovely to create a sapphic manananggal, given the female dynamics in the folklore.
